Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks qualified individuals for CBPO roles at multiple entry and mid-level grades. Typical duties include enforcing immigration and customs laws, inspecting persons and conveyances, and safeguarding U.S. borders.

Qualifications

• GS-5 requires 3 years of general experience (1 year at GS-4) or a conferred bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
• GS-7 requires 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or equivalent.
• GS-9 requires 1 year of specialized experience or advanced graduate education or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture law and regulations.
• Enforcing the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
• Preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.
