Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is recruiting CBPOs with new recruitment incentives for a 3- or 4-year service contract across numerous duty locations. You will join a nationwide team protecting the borders and enforcing laws, with career stability and strong benefits.

Annual base salary for CBPOs begins at GS-9 level ($63,431–$127,464 per year). Incentives can add up to $15,000 per year for eligible locations, plus potential overtime of up to $45,000. Training at FLETC is required.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
• Master's degree or two years of graduate education leading to such a degree; or an LL.B./J.D.
• Combination of specialized experience and higher education may be used to meet requirements.
• U.S. citizenship and residency requirements apply to the position.

Responsibilities

• Detaining suspected violators and arresting violators using proper law enforcement methods.
• Enforcing laws related to importing, exporting, and international shipping to/from the United States.
• Using intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify threats and perform risk assessments.
• Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity to gain information for determining appropriate actions.
• Ensuring admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States and preventing illegal entry of goods.
