Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks entry‑level CBPOs. This national opportunity includes a 3- or 4-year service contract with recruitment incentives up to $15,000 per year in designated locations.

Base salary starts at GS-9 levels, with locality pay varying by duty location and eligibility for overtime pay up to $45,000. Citizenship and residency requirements apply; you will complete a two‑part training program at FLETC after selection.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of specialized experience in detaining violators and enforcing import/export laws.
• Education substitution: a master’s degree or two+ years of graduate coursework or an LL.B./J.D. may substitute experience.
• Combination of experience and education considered for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Detaining suspected violators and using proper law enforcement methods.
• Enforcing laws related to importing/exporting and international shipping.
• Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity for information gathering.
