Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) invites applications for CBPO positions with new recruitment and retention incentives. Officers protect U.S. borders, enforce customs and immigration laws, facilitate legitimate travel and trade, and perform inspections to determine admissibility.

Incentives include up to $15,000 per year for 3- or 4-year service contracts in selected locations, with a GS-9 base salary spanning approx. $63,431–$127,464 per year plus overtime and federal benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level.
• Education Substitution: a master’s degree, or two+ years of graduate education, or an LL.B. or J.D.
• Combination of Experience and Education may be considered for qualification.

Responsibilities

• Detaining suspected violators and arresting violators using proper methods.
• Enforcing laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and international shipping.
• Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats and perform risk assessments.
• Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity to gain information from suspected violators.
