Qualifications

• GS-5 level requires either 3 years general experience, 1 year at GS-4, or a bachelor's degree/4-year course; OR a combo of experience and education.
• GS-7 level requires 1 year of specialized experience at next lower grade, including inspections and regulatory work.
• GS-9 level requires 1 year of specialized experience or graduate education or a combo of both; includes knowledge of CBP procedures.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Oversee the flow of legitimate trade and travel and conduct inspections of persons and conveyances.
• Determine admissibility for entry into the United States and prevent illegal entry of persons and contraband.
