Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring CBPOs to enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws across multiple U.S. duty locations.

Positions range from entry to mid-level with qualification options based on education and experience, including potential incentives and a robust benefits program. New hires may be eligible for a location-based recruitment incentive and comprehensive federal employee benefits, including health and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• GS-5: requires at least 3 years of general experience or a bachelor’s degree or a combination of experience and education.
• GS-7: requires 1 year of specialized experience or equivalent education/substitution as described; includes inspection and evaluation duties.
• GS-9: requires 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, or graduate-level education or a combination thereof.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Inspecting individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility into the United States.
• Ensuring the flow of legitimate trade and travel and preventing illegal entry or smuggling.
• Conducting inspections and determinations in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Participating in training and performing law enforcement duties as required.
