Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to protect the United States at and near borders. Positions offer entry to mid-level career paths with education or related experience, strong base pay, federal benefits, and recruitment incentives.

Selected BPAs may receive up to $20,000 in recruitment incentives and up to $30,000 in additional retention incentives spread over three years, with prioritized duty locations listed. Training is provided at the academy.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating decision making and composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience AND college education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violations and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as part of patrols
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets to fulfill CBP mission.
