Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is actively seeking an experienced Border Patrol Agent (GL-9/GS-11) for full‑time, career positions with sign‑on and retention incentives.

The role involves protecting borders, conducting investigations, and leveraging advanced surveillance in various duty locations across the United States. Candidates may relocate to prioritized duty locations; base pay ranges from $65,545 to $124,717 with locality pay and up to 25% overtime.

Qualifications

• GL-9: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, including duties such as searching detained individuals and vehicles for contraband.
• GS-11: One year of specialized experience with authority to enforce laws, lead investigations, and apprehend violators.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and various assets.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband; performing checks and patrols.
• Patrolling borders and waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets to accomplish USBP missions.
