Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) across multiple entry and mid-level grades.

With a strong focus on national security, agents perform immigration and customs checks, border patrols, and surveillance to enforce laws while enjoying comprehensive federal benefits and potential recruitment incentives. Qualified candidates may be placed at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels depending on experience and education, with incentives up to $20,000 for recruitment and

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience and college education may be substituted for the required education.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night operations tools.
• Interpreting evidence of illegal entry and conducting checks of farms, buildings, traffic, and city areas.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
