Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) on a full-time basis across multiple duty locations in the United States.

Roles include inspecting documents, apprehending unauthorized entrants, and patrolling borders using a range of assets to fulfill CBP missions. Compensation includes a base salary at various grades (GL/GS levels) with a robust benefits package and potential recruitment and retention incentives.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience that demonstrates ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations and procedures; and to gather concise information from questions, observations, and documents.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and college education may satisfy qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and night-operations tools.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling borders and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, and other assets to fulfill CBP mission.
