Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and learn regulations.
• A bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree.
• A combination of general work experience and education may suffice for qualification.
• For GL-7, a bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement may be required.
• Education substitutions and combinations are considered per grade level.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
