Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to join one of the world’s largest law enforcement organizations. CBP offers competitive base pay and a robust benefits package.

Positions are full-time at entry and mid-level grades where education or prior public safety experience may qualify. In addition to base pay, BPAs may receive recruitment and retention incentives as noted in the announcement.

Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and stay composed under stress; able to learn regulations, methods, and techniques.
• Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of Experience and Education: A mix of general work experience and education; evaluated from resume and transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry; performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling borders and waterways using various vehicles and equipment to fulfill CBP mission.
