Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to protect the United States at the borders. This full-time, entry- to mid-level career position may qualify with either education or prior public safety experience.

In addition to base pay, CBP offers comprehensive federal benefits and substantial recruitment incentives. Duties include detecting suspected violators, border surveillance, evidence interpretation, and various inspections.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to handle stress and make decisions in challenging situations.
• A bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• A combination of general work experience and education may also qualify you.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets.
