Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to make sound decisions and remain composed in stressful situations.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education may also qualify; evaluation based on resume and transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, and transportation checks; patrolling designated areas.
• Patrolling borders and coastal waters using various assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
