Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at multiple grades (GL-5 to GS-11). The position includes opportunities for advancement, robust federal benefits, and recruitment incentives.

Selected BPAs may be assigned to priority locations across the United States and will undergo training at the Border Patrol Academy. Base salaries range from $51,632 to $124,717 annually, with potential incentives up to $20,000 during recruitment and up to $30,000 in retention

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Eligibility for GL-5/GL-7/GL-9/GS-11 grades based on experience/education.
• U.S. Border Patrol Academy training after hire.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision tools.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry; performing patrols and checks across varied locations.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets to fulfill CBP missions.
