Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or successful completion of a full four‑year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of experience and education may apply to meet qualifications.
• Experience with law enforcement or public safety is considered for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and patrols.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry.
• Perform factory, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as part of routine patrols.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets.
