Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents for entry and mid-level roles across the United States. The BPA role enforces immigration and border laws within a federal framework, conducting inspections and enforcing public safety responsibilities.

Selected candidates receive competitive base pay, comprehensive federal benefits, and recruitment/retention incentives, with training at the Border Patrol Academy. Opportunities span multiple duty locations nationwide.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership, decision making, and composure under stress.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
• A combination of general work experience and college education; exact calculation via resume/transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and infrared scopes.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
