Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at entry and mid-level grades across multiple GS/GL scales. The role involves enforcing immigration and customs laws, conducting field inspections, and patrolling borders to safeguard the United States. Training at the Border Patrol Academy is required.

Compensation ranges with base salaries and comprehensive benefits; recruitment and retention incentives are available for prioritized locations and performance.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership and composure in stressful situations.
• A bachelor's degree or four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• A combination of general work experience and education may apply with appropriate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and assets.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks during patrols.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using varied government assets.
