Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time entry and mid-level positions. CBP offers competitive base pay, excellent federal benefits, stability, and recruitment/retention incentives. Duty locations across the US are listed with prioritization options.

Selected BPAs may begin at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11 levels with potential promotion to GS-12. Education or prior public safety experience may qualify applicants.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to lead, decide, and stay composed in stressful situations; or
• Bachelor's degree recognized by the federal education system; or
• Combination of general experience and education acceptable for the position.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Maintain surveillance to detect and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using various assets.
• Interpret tracks, marks and evidence of illegal entry and conduct checks on farms, buildings, traffic and city areas.
• Patrol borders and coastal areas using vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft and other government assets to fulfill CBP mission.
