Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeks an experienced Border Patrol Agent (GL-9 / GS-11) to protect the nation’s borders and enforce immigration laws.

This full-time career role offers substantial locality pay, benefits, and growth opportunities within the Border Patrol. Duties include detecting and questioning individuals, patrolling borders with a range of vehicles and equipment, and applying law enforcement authorities.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: physical searches of detained individuals and surroundings for weapons, contraband, and evidence.
• Apprehending, restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of laws.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Patrolling borders using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets to accomplish the USBP mission.
• Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry.
