Job summary

Customs and Border Protection is seeking new officers as part of the CBPO program with recruitment incentives for select duty locations. The role involves enforcing immigration and customs laws, inspecting individuals and vehicles, and ensuring lawful entry into the United States. Training includes a pre-academy orientation and a 101-day CBP Field Operations Academy.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, with a qualifying background for GS-9, and may receive annual incentives depending on duty

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree or higher, or two+ years of graduate study, or an LL.B./J.D.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required to apply.
• Training: paid pre-academy orientation and CBP Field Operations Academy training.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and related laws and regulations.
• Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Inspect individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility.
• Determine admissibility of entrants to the United States.
• Prevent illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods.
