Job summary

Watco in Kansas is seeking a CDL-A driver to operate a boom truck with grapple, hauling rail ties, railroad materials, and construction equipment across western Kansas and into eastern Colorado. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm with an hourly pay rate of $25.00 to start.

You will perform daily inspections, maintain trailers, and ensure safety and quality in all tasks. A Class A CDL and ability to operate manual transmission are required; High School or GED is acceptable.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Class A CDL driver’s license with no restrictions (operate manual transmission).
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required or preferred.
  • Must pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position and location.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a boom truck with grapple to haul rail ties, railroad materials, and construction equipment throughout western Kansas and to the eastern Colorado state line.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete condition reports.
  • Maintain a clean and organized trailer ready for loading.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and federal/state regulations.
  • Communicate professionally with team members, dispatch, and customers; coordinate with others as needed.
  • Assist in mentoring and training new or less experienced personnel.
