The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch Bookstore is seeking a seasoned Retail Manager to lead daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and manage inventory, purchasing, and staff performance. This on-site role focuses on efficient processes, budget oversight, and strong vendor relations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Degree above minimum education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
• Experience with textbook purchasing and direct textbook buyback.
• Retail management experience including purchasing, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and merchandise returns.
• Experience managing inventory, stock displays, shrinkage, and year-end inventory.
• Proficiency in retail merchandising and marketing activities.
• Supervisory experience including hiring, training, coaching, performance management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee bookstore operations including purchasing, inventory, and vendor relations.
• Supervise staff through hiring, training, and performance management.
• Prepare budgets, purchase requisitions, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate marketing, promotions, and visual merchandising.
• Maintain stock, displays, and year-end inventory accuracy.
• Represent UNM Gallup Branch at meetings and events.
• Develop records systems and enforce policies for safe operation.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
