Goodwill of Greater Detroit is seeking a Donor Attendant in Ann Arbor, MI. The role greets donors, assists with donations, and sorts items for processing in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Description

Position Summary:

Our bookstore donor attendants greet and help people who are making a donation, and then do an initial sort of that donation to speed along the processing of those donations. You'll need to provide excellent service to our donors! .

Position Duties:

• Greet and assist all donors.
• Receive and, as appropriate, politely decline donations from teh public in accordance with established guidelines.
• Provide all donors with access to a receipt in accordance with established guidelines.
• Identify and sort donations for further processing in accordance with established guidelines.
• May occasionally need to provide cross-coverage for Bookstore Retail Associates on store sales floor.
• Other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED: Any combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires standing and walking and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, and reaching with hands and arms. Requires frequent lifting and moving of heavy items up to 40 pounds. May be required to stand for entire shift.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires energetic, team-oriented individual with a positive "can-do" attitude and an ability to understand, accept and work with people who have disabilities and/or other barriers to employment. Need to be able to identify different materials included in donations.

MACHINES/EQUIPMENT:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mix of donation, production, and retail environments. Usually fast-paced.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and values that reflect the organization’s mission and values. Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor, and appearance at all times. Must be 16 years of age or older. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, extended hours and holidays. Must pass a background check.
