Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Detroit is seeking a retail store associate to maintain an appealing sales floor, assist customers, and ring up purchases. This entry-level role emphasizes friendly service and adherence to store policies.

You will handle transactions, stock shelves, and keep the floor organized while supporting a team that helps people facing barriers to employment. Candidates must be 16 or older, able to work evenings and weekends, and pass a background check; eligibility for incentive pay

Position Summary: Our store retail associates help maintain an appealing sales floor and provide world-class customer service to shoppers on the sales floor and at the register. You'll need to learn about our mission and programs, enjoy talking to and helping people, and love seeing shoppers find great deals! This is an excellent entry-level role at a Goodwill store and is eligible for incentive pay based on a combination of the store's and your performance.

• Process sales at the register.
• Maintain an organized and clean sales floor.
• Stock sales floor with processed clothing, housewares, electronics, shoes, and accessories in accordance with established guidelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires standing and walking and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, and reaching with hands and arms. Requires frequent lifting and moving of light items, up to 10 pounds, and occasional lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds. May be required to stand for entire shift.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires energetic, team-oriented individual with a positive “can-do” attitude and an ability to understand, accept and work with people who have disabilities and/or other barriers to employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mix of production and retail environments. Usually fast-paced.
