Job summary

Follett Higher Education seeks an Assistant Store Manager for the Southern Univ AM Bookstore in Baton Rouge. You will assist the Market Leader or Store Manager in driving sales growth and delivering brand and operational excellence through an engaging customer experience.

You will mentor and develop team members while monitoring store performance metrics, ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining store standards. Availability to meet business needs is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent preferred.
• 0-5 years of retail or bookstore experience preferred; supervisory experience preferred.
• General computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises sales team FT/PT and temporary staff; schedules hours.
• Trains new team members and seasonal staff for peak periods.
• Ensures adherence to company policies, standards, and procedures.
• Maintains merchandising and promotions; creates displays.
• Onboards new hires and supports customer service excellence.
• Greet customers, answer phones, direct callers, resolve escalated issues; foster a hassle-free service culture.
• Receives, verifies, and unloads orders; operates cash register and store computer.
• Balances cash handling; prepares deposits; maintains safe cash procedures.
• Stock shelves and conducts store inventory as scheduled.
• Performs store cleaning and shelf/display upkeep.
• May cover for others during breaks; assists across departments.
• Keyholder with opening/closing responsibilities; end-of-month reporting duties.
