Job summary

The Morse Institute Library in Natick seeks a Bookmobile Coordinator to lead outreach efforts and ensure residents have access to information, education, and entertainment.

The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating services, operating the Bookmobile or Library Van on a regular schedule with the Outreach Librarian, and delivering reference and Reader’s Advisory services to the community. Some evenings may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• 2-3 years working in a library with a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population.
• A valid MA driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

Job description

Due to a promotion, the Morse Institute Library is looking for its next Bookmobile Coordinator. We are on a mission to bring library magic to every neighborhood in Natick. Our Bookmobile Coordinator will be a driving force behind our outreach efforts, ensuring that everyone in our vibrant and growing community has access to the information, education, and entertainment they want and need.

The Bookmobile Coordinator will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating outreach and bookmobile services that align with the library’s strategic goals of inspiring minds, enriching lives, enabling learning, and fostering connections throughout the community. The Bookmobile Coordinator will operate the Library Bookmobile and/or Library Van on a regular schedule, working with the Outreach Librarian to bring the library to neighborhoods, events, and community gatherings.

The Bookmobile Coordinator is part of the Library’s Outreach team, and will work closely with other library departments to provide reference and Reader’s Advisory services, offer programs to the community, and home delivery services to eligible Natick residents. The Bookmobile Coordinator will also work with Library Administration to collect and analyze outreach statistics to help refine services and better serve the Natick community. Some nights and evening shifts are required as necessary for outreach events.

The Bookmobile Coordinator must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and have 2-3 years working in a library with a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population. In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements. A valid MA driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.

This position starts at $31.63 per hour (Step 1), with a full pay range of $31.63- $39.11 per hour in annual step increases in accordance with the union agreement. The Town of Natick offers excellent employee benefits, including sick, personal, and vacation time.
