Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, prepare payroll and tax statements, and support client retention and growth with accuracy and discretion.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, knowledge of GAAP, and certifications or the ability to obtain them, plus strong organizational and analytical skills. This on-site role is based in Kentucky.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications preferred or obtainable.
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience required.
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard procedures.
• Ability to interpret complete policies and regulations.
• Confidential information handling with professionalism.
• Strong analytical, organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and growth opportunities.
