Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll, and client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial statements for clients, supporting the firm's mission to provide help and inspire confidence.

This role requires 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience, knowledge of GAAP, and proficiency with Xero. Certification in bookkeeping/payroll is a plus, with potential for growth within a collaborative, client-centric

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to obtain certifications.
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles & procedures
• Ability to correctly interpret and apply complete instructions, policies and regulations
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• Analytical skills and an eye for details
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers
• Reconcile and balance accounts
• Generate and analyze financial statements
• Prepare and process payroll
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities
