Job summary

The Affinity Group in New York is seeking a meticulous Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records across our Food Service and Retail divisions, reporting to the VP of Finance. You will handle day-to-day bookkeeping, assist with month-end close, and ensure data is organized for reporting.

The role requires 2+ years in bookkeeping, proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel, and a collaborative, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) or similar accounting software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas).
• Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
• High attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and check requests accurately and on time.
• Record and apply customer payments; follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies with internal teams and external partners.
• Maintain the general ledger; post journal entries weekly.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Support the month-end and year-end close process by preparing schedules and variance analyses.
• Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation.
• Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain accurate records for both the Food Service and Retail divisions, keeping accounts properly coded and segmented.
• Work closely with the sales, operations, and brokerage teams to resolve coding questions and support vendor or customer inquiries.
