Job description

A growing organization in the Rockford area is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role will focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, with an emphasis on accuracy, organization, and maintaining strong vendor and customer relationships. This position offers a flexible hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Perform 3-way match (purchase order, invoice, and receiving documentation) to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments
• Code and enter invoices, ensure proper approvals, and execute payments via check, ACH, or wire
• Apply customer payments, monitor AR aging, and assist with collections as needed
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subledger accounts, including AP and AR accounts
• Perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and reporting support
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
• Support audit requests and provide documentation to external auditors

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
• Experience with 3-way match strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and processes
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (ERP experience preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
