Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
• Investigate discrepancies and monitor outstanding transactions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Process vendor invoices, code to PO, and reconcile vendor statements.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.
• Support accounts receivable and customer payment processing.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Established in 1985, Basnight Land & Lawn, Inc. is an award-winning, full-service outdoor contractor serving residential and commercial clients throughout Virginia and North Carolina.

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile company bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
• Investigate discrepancies and monitor outstanding transactions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Accounts Payable

• Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into QuickBooks.
• Match invoices with purchase orders and reconcile vendor statements.
• Prepare vendor payments, including checks and ACH transactions.
• Maintain vendor accounts and respond to inquiries.
• Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.
• Support accounts receivable and customer payment processing.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop.
• Experience managing multiple bank accounts or high-volume transactions.
• Familiarity with journal entries and month-end closing.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Annual Salary: $55,000-$65,000 based on experience and qualifications.
