Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join our Bond & Specialty Insurance (BSI) team. The role involves managing lower-severity claims with close supervision, coordinating outside counsel, and providing legal insight to underwriting colleagues to optimize claim outcomes.

You will handle investigations, settlements, and documentation, with emphasis on risk management, compliance, and collaboration with stakeholders. A JD and valid license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Juris Doctor Degree.
• Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction you will work in.
• Valid driver’s license or access to transportation for mediations, conferences, field offices, trials, and depositions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and settlements when appropriate.
• Prepare management reports on loss development and exposure with guidance from management.
• Provide legal review and advice to underwriters on bond obligations and project contracts.
