Job summary

Fontana is seeking a Boltmaker Operator to set up and run boltmaking machines, ensuring daily production and quality goals are met. The role requires reading blueprints, using micrometers and calipers, and following a BOM for tooling sequences.

Training is on the 1st shift for up to 6 months before switching to 2nd shift. Work involves operating multiple boltmaking machines, maintaining safety standards, recording performance, and handling material securely.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; training on 1st shift for 6 months, then 2nd shift.
• Experience with progressive presses is a plus but not required.
• Manufacturing environment experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily production and quality goals.
• Verify parts meet quality specs using micrometers, calipers, gauges.
• Follow BOM to identify proper tooling sequence.
• Set up machine operations for each aspect (wire draw, header, pointer, roll section, conveyors).
• Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on machines.
• Handle raw materials securely when required.
• Operate multiple boltmaking machines (Sacma, National, Formax, Nedschroef).
• Record production activities and machine performance.
• Maintain safety standards and a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Boltmaker Operator

A machine operator is responsible for setting up a variety of products on several different size and types of boltmaker machines to manufacture fasteners. Accountable for safely meeting daily production goals, quality requirements, and performing preventative maintenance.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for meeting daily production and quality goals.
• Utilize measurement devices, such as, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and a variety of attribute gauges to verify that parts meet quality specifications.
• Use a Bill of Material (BOM) to identify proper tooling sequence.
• Complete set up operation of each aspect of the machine (i.e., wire draw, header, pointer, roll section, tracks and conveyors).
• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on machines.
• Secure raw material when required.
• Operate and become proficient on different types of boltmaking machinery (i.e., Sacma, National, Formax, and Nedschroef).
• Record production activities and machine performance.
• Ensure safety standards are met and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong mechanical ability.
• Strong attention to detail as well as troubleshooting ability.
• Read and understand blueprints.
• Good math skills; able to interpret metric and standard dimensions.
• Must be able to retain and apply technical information from machine manuals.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Identify and use several different hand tools.

Education:

High school diploma or GED, a plus, but not required.

Successfully complete a 6-month training process (train on 1st shift for up to 6 months, then switch to 2nd shift).

Experience:

Experience with operating progressive presses a plus, but not required.

Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment helpful.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift and/or maneuver up to 50+ pounds.

Ability to stand for 8+ hours and endure frequent climbing, twisting, and turning.

Must be flexible to work OT, as needed.

Non-climate controlled work environment.

Training on 1st shift for 6 months

Assigned shift - 2nd shift, 3:00pm - 11:00pm, and overtime, as needed

Pay rate - $19.32 - 34.30/hr
