Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Bolt Maker is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring bolt-making machinery used to produce high-quality fasteners according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and production requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience operating cold-heading, bolt-forming, thread-rolling, or related fastener manufacturing equipment and understands the importance of quality, safety, and production efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate bolt-making machines and a variety of other machinery, including but not limited to manual mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and forklifts.
• Read and interpret work orders, production specifications, blueprints, and drawings.
• Adjust machine settings to maintain proper dimensions, thread specifications, and production requirements.
• Monitor Machines during production and make adjustments as needed.
• Inspect finished bolts for flaws and defects.
• Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, tooling changes, and basic preventative maintenance.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality records.
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Test finished products and identify defects.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality personnel, maintenance staff, and other production employees.
• Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

• HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution
• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and production specifications.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of each machine and its functions
• Reading, writing, and math skills are essential. Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop an effective manufacturing plan based on specifications.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

• Cold-heading or cold-forming machinery.
• Machining in the Tool and Die industry.
• Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in the trade, or journeyman card holder.
• Use of micrometers, calipers, and other industry gauges.
