Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Corrections Utility Plant Operator to operate, maintain, and repair boiler plant systems at SCI Camp Hill. The role involves supervising inmate workers, logging data, and ensuring safe, secure plant operations across rotating shifts.

Applicants must have three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination, complete basic training in Elizabethtown, and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to perform essential job functions and pass background checks.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain three natural gas and oil fired boilers under normal and emergency conditions.
• Maintain pumps, fans, chemical feed systems, and other auxiliary plant equipment.
• Test boiler water chemistry and keep accurate logs of chemical levels and supplies.
• Perform housekeeping tasks and maintain daily inventories in assigned areas.
• Oversee inmate workers, monitor movement, conduct searches, and maintain safety and security.
• Complete paperwork and communicate plant needs with the supervisor.
