Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
• One year of semi-skilled work experience in operation, maintenance, or repair of utility plant systems and related equipment.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Boiler Operation: Start up and shut down boilers, operate valves, and monitor gauges and digital controls to maintain safe heat and hot water.
• Water Testing: Collect samples, test water quality, and treat systems to ensure correct feedwater conditions.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain boilers, pumps, motors, traps, and related systems for safe and efficient operation.
• Emergency Response: Perform manual emergency fire horn operations and make urgent repairs when equipment issues arise.
• Plant Upkeep: Complete preventive maintenance, clean plant areas, and follow safety procedures during all tasks.
• Shift Coverage: Rotate shifts to ensure continuous monitoring and operation of the boiler plant.
