Job summary

UAB seeks a skilled Boiler Operator to operate and monitor campus and hospital boiler plants, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient steam and hot-water systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, test water chemistry, adjust controls, and document activities for regulatory compliance.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of boiler experience, and relevant technical training. Overtime and rotating shifts are expected in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 3 years operating and maintaining boilers and boiler support equipment.
• Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance or power plant operations preferred.
• HVAC vocational schooling may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, inspect, and optimize boilers and boiler support systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers and related components.
• Test boiler water chemistry and adjust chemical feed systems.
• Read blueprints and manufacturer specifications for boiler systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe boiler plant and coordinate with inspectors.
