Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Virginia Driver's License.
• Experience with hand tools, electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and follow written procedures and prioritize work.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally, electronically and in writing.
• Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and repair equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply operating procedures and policies.
• Ability to complete work assignments with minimal guidance.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, monitor, and maintain 3 coal-fired hot water boilers, related support and auxiliary equipment and systems.
• Provide supervision, support, training and guidance to the inmate work force performing routine daily tasks, corrective maintenance procedures and plant operations.
• Provide continuous, reliable steam flow to the Institution in a safe and efficient manner.
• Supervise and train inmates on safe plant operations and maintenance practices.
