Job summary

The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) invites applicants for the Boiler Operator Supervisor Trainee Program at the Denver Correctional Complex. This trainee role provides hands-on training in boiler operations, working alongside inmates to maintain safety, security, and reliable facility utilities.

Upon completion, the trainee may advance to a CSTS I position with four years of boiler experience, and must obtain a Stationary Engineer license within four years.

Qualifications

• Trainee program with on-the-job boiler operations training.
• Requires obtaining a Stationary Engineer license within four years of CSTS I appointment.
• Supervises inmate workers and promotes safety and security in the facility.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of the facility and surrounding public, staff and inmates.
• Perform boiler house operations, maintenance, and energy efficiency tasks as trained.
• Supervise inmate workers and train them in boiler operations and tool use.
• Adhere to Boiler Code, IPC, and policy standards; monitor expenses and waste.
