Job summary

City of Atlantic City Inc. is seeking an experienced Boiler Operator to operate stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment, ensuring safe and efficient power generation for heating plants and related systems.

Responsibilities include regulating stokers and fuel flow, maintaining water levels, and recording system readings. A valid New Jersey Black Seal Boiler Operator License is required, along with a New Jersey driver’s license; the work is performed on-site under supervision of licensed

Qualifications

• Possess a current Black Seal Boiler Operator License (high or low pressure) issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
• Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Operate stationary boilers and auxiliary boiler equipment serving buildings of public assembly.
• Fuels boilers by regulating stokers, hand firing, and oil burners.
• Manipulates valves to control feed pump governors and pressure gauges.
• Maintain boiler water level within required range.
• Keep fires in the boilers at proper thickness and regulate draft for efficiency.
• Perform minor repairs and installation of grate units, tubes, and caps; turbine boilers as needed.
• Record fuel consumption, pressure, draft conditions, temperature, and steam flow.
• Learn to operate and maintain electronic and manual recording systems used by the agency.
• Maintain clean, safe boiler room environment and report any equipment malfunctions.
