Job summary

Rowan University is seeking a Boiler Operator to operate and maintain stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment, ensuring safe, reliable heating for university facilities. The role requires attentiveness to water levels, fuel flow, and boiler draft while maintaining clean boiler rooms and accurate logs.

Under supervision of licensed personnel, you will perform routine tests, adjust controls, and participate in minor repairs.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, valid Black Seal Boiler Operator License of the appropriate type (high or low pressure).
• Experience operating and maintaining steam boilers and related equipment preferred.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and to learn agency electronic/record-keeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate stationary boilers and steam generators to supply heat for buildings and processes.
• Fuels boilers by regulating stokers, oil flow, and combustion controls.
• Monitor water levels, fire conditions, and draft for safe, efficient operation.
• Perform routine inspections, record fuel consumption, pressure, temperature, and steam flow.
• Clean and maintain boiler rooms and related areas; keep logs and records.
• Assist with minor repairs and gear upgrades as needed.
