Qualifications

• Requires current Black Seal Boiler Operator License (high or low pressure) issued by NJDOL.
• Driver's license valid in New Jersey if vehicle operation is necessary.
• Knowledge of boiler room equipment, safety devices, water levels, and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Fires stationary boilers to generate steam for heating plants and turbines.
• Fuels boilers by regulating stokers, hand firing, and oil burners.
• Regulates valves, feed pump governors, and pressure control gauges.
• Maintains boiler water level and regulates draft for efficiency.
• Performs routine repairs, maintenance, and minor installations in boiler room.
• Keeps logs of fuel consumption, pressure, draft, temperature, and steam flow.
