Job summary
Kean University in Union, New Jersey, seeks an Office of Facilities Operating Engineer I to oversee the operation and maintenance of steam plant systems across the campus. Responsibilities include monitoring high and low pressure boilers and related equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
The role requires a valid NJ Operating Engineer license (Blue Seal minimum), a NJ driver’s license, and at least two years of hands-on experience with heating plants.
Qualifications
- An appropriate Operating Engineer's license (Blue Seal minimum) issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor.
- Driver's license valid in the State of New Jersey.
- Two (2) years of experience in operation and repair of heating plants and auxiliary equipment.
- Knowledge of boilers, engines, motors and auxiliary equipment used in power and heating plants and methods of proper use, care, adjustments and maintenance.
- Strong electrical and plumbing skills preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate steam plant systems across campus.
- Perform related work as required and respond to equipment needs.
- Inspect, adjust and troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Drives as needed for related tasks.
- Flexible schedule as required.
