Job Summary

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the boiler and truck/trailer used during Cured in Place Process (CIPP) lining installation. The Boiler Operator is part of a crew performing trenchless sewer/storm line rehabilitation and repair of municipal, industrial, storm, and sanitary sewer lines. The role involves driving the boiler truck/trailer to the work site and operating the boiler to heat lines with water or steam after installation.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Maintain CDL Class A license; drive the boiler truck/tractor-trailer.
  2. Operate sewer equipment, generators, and power tools; maintain control and upkeep of equipment.
  3. Follow safety policies, DOT regulations, safety specifications, and MSDS.
  4. Perform vehicle and equipment inspections; conduct daily maintenance and report needs.
  5. Assist crew with site preparation, installation, and cleanup tasks.
  6. Perform boiler pre-fire steps and position it properly.
  7. Identify curing pressure, follow curing schedules, monitor gauges, and ensure process consistency.
  8. Work in confined spaces, preparing lines and sealing systems.
  9. Operate safety equipment and safeguard crew members during below ground work.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned, including working in outdoor conditions in various weather.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must obtain or possess within 90 days a CDL with HAZMAT and endorsements.
  • Experience in construction, water, or sewer utilities preferred; trenchless tech experience is a plus.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work, work in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.
  • Independent work skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, safety rules, and instructions.
  • Mathematical skills for measuring and calculations.
  • Flexibility in work hours and travel readiness.
  • Pass drug tests, background checks, and driver’s license review.
