Role: Slalom Flex (Project Based) – Platform Engineer

Location: Open to Remote, supporting EST working hours

The Platform Engineer will bring expertise in AWS, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation and will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure and development platforms to support mission-critical systems for our clients.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable AWS infrastructure (ECS, EC2, EKS, networking, VPNs, subnets)
  • Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (Groovy, Jenkinsfiles)
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code solutions with Terraform
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker on Ubuntu environments
  • Write automation scripts using Python and shell scripting (bash, sh)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance platforms
  • Ensure compliance with federal security and operational standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, test, and production environments

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years of professional experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • US Citizenship required (legal requirement)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS Public Trust clearance (must be able to pass DHS Background Investigation)
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS services: ECS, EC2, EKS, and networking (VPN, subnets)
  • Advanced knowledge of Jenkins (Groovy, Jenkinsfiles) and CI/CD best practices
  • Proficiency with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience with Docker containers and Ubuntu Linux administration
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and shell (bash, sh)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Prior experience supporting federal government or public sector projects preferred
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.) preferred
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, ELK) preferred
  • Experience with Git and version control workflows preferred

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the hourly pay range is $60 to $65/HR depending on experience. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The hourly pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
