Renaissance-Lakewood,-LL seeks a qualified Boiler Operator to ensure safe operation of high-pressure gas boilers and related water systems in a 24/7 facility in Lakewood, NJ. The role features a 12-hour shift schedule from 6pm to 6am and involves routine inspections, monitoring, and maintenance duties.

Required is a high school diploma and NJ High Pressure Black Seal Boiler License, with at least 3 years of gas boiler operation experience; aseptic/pharmaceutical packaging exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; NJ High Pressure Black Seal Boiler License required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant gas boiler operation experience.
• Experience in an aseptic/pharmaceutical packaging environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly boiler room facility inspections and verify boiler feed water chemistry.
• Read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices to verify operating conditions.
• Record data such as temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumed, pressure, and gas analysis.
• Adjust controls to stay within prescribed ranges and switch to backup equipment as needed.
• Visually inspect equipment and perform minor maintenance like tightening fittings and replacing components.
• Oil and lubricate equipment; maintain logs of operations and maintenance actions.
• Run and maintain plant water systems and air compressors during shifts.
• Utilize Building Management System (BMS) for alarm reporting and response.
• Assist in managing contracted work in Boiler Room and Critical Utility Room.

Description

Achieve safe operations of the facility while maintaining continuous (24/7) operations of the gas High pressure steam boilers, water systems and clean steam generators.

Shift: 12-Hour Pitman Shift Schedule, 6pm-6am.

• Perform monthly boiler room facility inspections and make sure the boiler feed water chemistry is correct.
• Read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
• Record data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases, voltage load and generator balance.
• Adjust manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment.
• Visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
• Maintain equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, sight glass, gaskets, valves, recorders, and gauges, and cleaning or replacing burners or other components.
• Oil and lubricate equipment.
• Record operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operator's logbook.
• Perform minor preventative maintenance on plant equipment such as the water systems, steam generators, air compressors, chillers and pumps, which require medium to heavy lifting.
• Building Management System (BMS)
  • Monitor critical equipment for environmental alerts and alarms
  • Inform equipment owner and facilities supervisor of alarms
  • Decipher BMS data to identify root causes of alarms
• Assist in managing contracted work performed in Boiler Rm and Critical Utility Rm.

Minor Maintenance includes, but is not limited to:

• Change gauges (temperature, pressure, etc.) within the plant
• Remove and replace electric motors and belts
• Remove and replace filters, oils and other lubricating fluids on all plant equipment
• Remove and replace gasketsRemove and replace valves within the plant
• Install pipe plugs as needed
• Clean Boiler Room, and Critical Utilities Room (pick up trash, take out trash, and mop)
• Clean out level sight glasses on all boilers
• Change out control valves as needed
• Secure all types off tubing and piping as needed
• Paint equipment as needed
• Change out light bulbs and must be able to climb ladders.
• Replace fuses
• Assist Lead Boiler Operator as needed.
• Run and Maintain the Plant Water System while on-shift
• Run and Maintain the Plant Air Compressors while on-shift
• Utilize Building Management System for Alarm Reporting and Response

High school degree, State of New Jersey High Pressure Black Seal Boiler License required, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant gas boiler operation experience; or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience. Experience in an aseptic/pharmaceutical packaging environment preferred. High integrity and self-motivated individual who is a team player with physical perceptive skills
