The University of Vermont in Burlington, VT seeks a Skilled Crafts & Trades OC4 N to operate, repair, and maintain the Central Utility Plant and its equipment, including BAS (Honeywell and Johnson).
This role involves data analysis, responding to alarms, coordinating with campus staff, and ensuring safety and sustainability. Occasional driving of a University vehicle is required, with four years of related experience and necessary certifications.
Perform highly skilled operation, repair and maintenance of the Central Utility Plant and its associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner using comprehensive understanding of system interdependencies and operations. Manage, analyze system data and monitor the Building Automation Control Systems (Honeywell and Johnson), anticipate system needs, problem-solve and adjust set points. Dispatch personnel in response to critical and non-critical system alarms and inform building occupants as required. Communicate with a variety of University personnel to effectively and efficiently manage the utility resources. Access information utilizing appropriate desktop applications. Promote a work place that encourages safety within the Shop and field. May operate a University vehicle. This position reports to a Supervisor and requires active engagement in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer service experiences.
High School Diploma, vocational building trades training and four years of experience in heating and/or cooling plant operations and maintenance and Building Automation Management Systems experience required. VT Natural Gas Certification; VT Fuel Oil Burning Equipment Installer (Limited) Certification, or ability to obtain within one year required; Effective verbal communication skills required. Experience using computers required. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check may be required. Comfortable in confined spaces and with heights. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful background check and physical screening.
Anticipated Pay Range $36.00-$39.00/hour Other Information Special Conditions Weekend work required, Non-standard work hours required, A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), 3rd Shift (Shift differential applies.), This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position, A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required FLSA Non-Exempt Union Position Yes, UE ($18.50 minimum hourly rate)
