Job summary

District Taco in Arlington, VA is hiring entry-level Team Members for Front of House and Back of House roles. We welcome all skill levels and provide training to help you succeed and serve guests safely every day.

You will follow food safety practices, assist teammates, and support cooking and prep tasks. Strong English communication and a solid work ethic are valued; this role requires physical stamina for long shifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide support to fellow Team Members.
• Follow safe food handling practices at all stages of preparation and service.
• Follow recipes and inspect ingredients to ensure quality.
• Alert management to foods that do not meet safety and quality standards.
• Prepare and pre-portion various food items as needed.
• Use kitchen equipment safely.
• Understand dietary restrictions and prevent cross-contamination.
• Follow portioning guidelines when preparing orders.
• Organize storage areas and unpack shipments to maintain rotation.
• Wash equipment and small wares.

Core Responsibilities

• Quality Control: alerting management of food that does not meet safety and quality standards
• Preparing and pre-portioning various food items as needed
• Using of all kitchen equipment safely
• Understanding dietary restrictions and the procedures to follow to avoid cross-contamination
• Following portioning guidelines when preparing orders
• Organizing storage areas and unpacking shipments to maintain proper rotation
• The washing of equipment and small-wares items

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English
• High level of motivation and sense of self-responsibility
• Ability to apply and maintain standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene
• Ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills on an ongoing basis
• Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath
• Stand and/or walk for 8 consecutive hours
• Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body
• Coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving
• Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm
• Lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects for long periods without getting tired
• Lift 50lbs or more on a regular basis
• Work efficiently in a variety of hot or cold environments (e.g. refrigerated areas, close to cooking
