Job summary

Hometown Coffee & Juice in Glencoe, IL is seeking a Back of House Lead to guide our kitchen team in delivering consistent, high‑quality food. You will lead during prep and service, uphold recipes and safety standards, and foster a positive, collaborative environment.

This hands‑on leadership role manages ticket flow, trains staff, ensures FIFO and cleanliness, supports inventory and cost control, and partners with front‑of‑house to create a great customer experience.

Qualifications

• One to two years of kitchen leadership experience in a fast-paced food service environment.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety.
• ServSafe certification preferred or can be obtained upon hiring.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm during busy service periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen operations during prep and service, maintaining speed and quality.
• Train and onboard new kitchen team members; provide real-time coaching.
• Ensure food safety, labeling, storage, and FIFO; keep the kitchen clean and organized.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and rotation to control costs.
• Collaborate with FOH leadership to support a great customer experience.
